In April 2025, Raba Gada USA, in collaboration with Dr. Abdirahman Roone of the African Health Access Network (AHAN) and the broader Oromo diaspora community, successfully raised approximately $50,000 to procure essential medical equipment and supplies for three hospitals in the Borana Zone of southern Ethiopia.
The beneficiary health facilities were:
• Negelle Borana General Hospital (the main referral hospital in the zone)
• Moyale Primary Hospital
• Arero Primary Hospital
The funds were used to supply critical equipment such as patient monitors, ultrasound machines, delivery beds, laboratory reagents, and other vital medical tools aimed at improving maternal and child health services, emergency care, and general diagnostic capacity in this drought-prone and underserved pastoralist region.
This initiative was part of a wider effort by the Oromo diaspora, particularly through organizations like Raba Gada USA and AHAN, to support healthcare infrastructure in the Oromia region, with a special focus on the Borana Zone, which has long suffered from chronic underinvestment and recurrent humanitarian crises.
