Raba Gada USA Collaborates with Diaspora Oromo Communities to Provide Water Tanks and Sanitary Materials to Borana Communities
In a remarkable display of unity and collaboration, Raba Gada USA joined forces with diaspora Oromo communities, specifically the Atalanta Oromo Community, San Diego Oromo Community, and United Oromo Evangelical Church Global Christian in Action of North America, to undertake a significant initiative aimed at alleviating water scarcity in the Borana Zone.
Through a collective effort, these organizations successfully purchased and installed 51 water tanks across various districts and localities within the Borana Zone. These water tanks will serve as a lifeline for the Borana communities, providing them with access to clean and safe water for their daily needs.
The breakdown of financial contributions is as follows:
* Raba Gada USA: ~$12,000 (US dollars)
* Atlanta Oromo Community: $17,000 (US dollars)
* San Diego Oromo Community: $10,000 (US dollars)
* United Oromo Evangelical Church Global Christian in Action of North America:10,000(US dollars)
Together, these contributions amounted to an impressive $49,000, demonstrating the unwavering commitment of the diaspora Oromo communities to supporting their homeland.
Furthermore, the collaborative effort extended to the provision of sanitary materials worth approximately 50,000 birr to girls’ hostels in Yabello. This thoughtful gesture reflects the organizations’ understanding of the importance of hygiene and sanitation for the overall well-being of the Borana communities.
The successful implementation of this project not only addresses the immediate water needs of the Borana people but also lays the foundation for long-term water security in the region. The collaborative spirit exemplified by Raba Gada USA and the diaspora Oromo communities serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating the power of collective action to bring about positive change.
