July 2022, the first general Raba Gada USA conference was held in Seattle, Washington, between July 22 and 24, 2022. The conference was very fruitful, and it was organized by the Raba Gada USA youth group led by Lokho Jarso. The youth group played an important role in organizing and setting up the conference from beginning to end. During the two-day conference, the members discussed and exchanged different ideas.
Here are a few of the highlights from the conference:
1. The members discussed how to grow Raba Gada USA membership.
2. The members discussed how to help, educate, and improve the daily lives of the Borana community in both southern Ethiopia and northern Kenya.
3. There was a display of Borana cultural costumes.
4. There was Borana cultural music and dances.
5. There were speeches by members and community leaders from the Seattle area.
6. There was a presentation on Raba Gada USA’s annual reports, achievements, and future goals.
Overall, the conference was a success, being the first of its kind to be organized by youth.
